Finance Committee approves town budget with 8.6 percent increase.
Finance Committee · Meeting of April 23, 2026
Hinsdale Finance Committee unanimously approves budget reflecting 8.6 percent increase, with schools accounting for 5.3 percent growth. Chair Shaun Galliher and Town Administrator Bob Graves walked members through General Budget and Water and Sewer accounts; the General Budget passed unanimously, as did Water and Sewer. The committee rejected a proposal to allocate part of the remaining $195,000 in Free Cash to the Capital Stabilization Fund for Transfer Station Compactor repairs, citing insufficient reserves.
With General Stabilization at approximately $900,000 and Capital Stabilization at $98,000, Galliher warned escalating costs could necessitate a 2 1/2 percent override within the near future.
