Lake Management Committee · Meeting of September 1, 2026

Hinsdale Lake Committee scheduled a September 15 Phragmites treatment for Ashmere and Plunkett lakes. Chair Monica Montferret's committee heard from Solitude Lake Management that an August Bladderwort treatment was effective but incomplete, with warm June weather contributing to continued spread. Solitude projected first-year elimination of 90 percent of Phragmites, with remaining 10 percent removed through follow-up applications over two additional years.

The committee also discussed resident concerns about Camp Taconic's lake use and rumors of a potential multi-home development with marina at Ashmere, agreeing to monitor closely. Secretary Duane Bruce was assigned to draft language for a Select Board agenda item requesting an update on the Plunkett dam and spillway project.
